Health
I've always chalked myself up to being a healthy person. I've had some boob issues, a couple sugeries, but nothing life threatening or scary. That all changed about two weeks ago when my dr used the word "disease." Autoimmune digestive to be exact. Of course I googled. Dumb. Crohns, IBS, leaky gutt, CANCER, all things I did NOT want to be associated with ME. First step in this road to figure out why my stomach hates me is new allergy testing. The ones they were looking at specifically are the Type 4 allergens or reactions that have a delayed reaction, and take weeks to leave the system. Monday, Tues, Wed....lots of itching, uncomfortableness, and now we have our answer. Ladies and gentleman...I am seriously allergic to CORN. Really? Corn? I don't eat corn. Like, ever. Oh....but yet I do.
Come to find out corn is pretty much American's go to food item. It is in EVERYTHING!!! Other than the obvious high fructose corn syrup, it's in yeast, baking power, powdered sugar, gelatin, any -dextrose item and these are just the easy ones. It is a binding agent in vitamins, drugs, moisturizers, tooth paste, etc. It took me by surpise when he said they have a support group for people with corn allergies becuase it is such a hard allergen to stay away from. I almost laughed! Seriously!?! Can it be that hard? WILL it be that hard?
I went from relief that I had an answer and it DIDN'T involve a poop bag on the outside of my body...to fear. I laughed a lot. IV's? Really? Allergic to most IV solutions? I should wear a medical alert bracelet? Really?
But all this to say that I am looking for answers. I AM needing, wanting to fix my tummy issues. To NOT cause more damage to my internal organs. I prayed for anwers, and well I believe I got them. Thankfully it didn't include invasive SUPER expensive testing, and well this is something that I control. Six weeks is his game plan. Six weeks to see if all my symptoms disappear and I become healthy again. 6 weeks....how hard can it be?
